Co. Cavan is located in the centre of Ireland and is known as the county of the lakes with a lake for every day of the year plus one (366). No matter which route you take on your bicycle you are sure to pass by a number of lakes, one more beautiful than the next. The terrain is made up of undulating hills, and further to the north of the county are the Iron Mountains. The view from there is spectacular and very peaceful. The mouth of the Shannon – the longest river in Ireland – is here and worth a visit if touring this area.
